Customer Rating: Summary: Adorable cover Comment: Dogwalker (Delilah) meets dogowner(Jason). A little romance and a cute Newfoundlan dog (Stanley) that matches its cover.
My truth is that I think Stanley was the only thing keeping this couple "in love". It was unfortunate but I don't think they even belonged together. Hero and heroin were sincere but not soul mates.
It was a light, fun read yet I wouldn't recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Chasing Delilah Comment: This is the second book I've read by Deirdre Martin and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one I read. The writing was just as excellent, the characters beautifully written and the story flowed along at a nice pace, but there was too much hockey.
I loved Delilah. I thought she was smart and sweet and sympathetic. I liked that she didn't let Jason push her around.
I also enjoyed Delilah's friend Marcus and wish he had gotten more of a story. Like a love interest or a part in a show. Something. He was too great to be used as only a doggy sitter/doggy psychic. More Marcus less hockey.
I liked Jason but he didn't seem to grow as much as Delilah. He became more comfortable but he still came across as someone who wanted to show Delilah off as the perfect girlfriend and compete with his brother. That being said, he worked with Delilah, they were a good match for each other.
Jason's twin Eric was by far my favorite character and I can't wait to read his story. Eric and Jason remind me of McDreamy and McSteamy from Grey's Anatomy.
I have two complaints about this book. 1) There was too much hockey. I'm not a big hockey fan and a lot of the game description went right over my head. I ended up skipping through most of it and never felt like the book was lacking. and 2) There was a little too much time spent on the dog training. I understand it was to enhance the character of Delilah but it too could have been cut back.
Overall I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: If you love dogs and romance stories, it's a keeper! Comment: I have read a couple of this author's hockey romance books, and this is a favorite! First, the hero, Jason, has this humongous dog, but he has no idea how to manage the dog in the city. Stanley, the dog, is cute and funny. Since I have four dogs, the dog got me first. But the main characters are also great- a no-nonsense, practical woman and a sweet but masculine hockey player. This book had more depth than many romance novels I've read, and I really liked the characters. They were well-developed, believable, and interesting.
Customer Rating: Summary: A beautiful book about opposites attract Comment: Ok, let's sum this up: I just adore this book, I love all Deirdre Martin has published and this work especially. IMO it's perfect in every way and a brilliant new book in the "New York Blades" series.
For those who want some more info, here it is.
It's all about Delilah Gould, a very shy dog trainer, and about Jason Mitchell, a new player of the Blades. Jason and his best buddy, Newfoundland Stanley, are new in town and in need of a place for Stanley to stay when Jason is playing. Jason and Delilah meet on a hot summer day and there is instant attraction between them and even better Delilah adores Stanley and is prepared to train and board him.
From a working relationship they go on to a more intimate one and at the beginning they have a lot of fun and enjoy their life together, but soon realize that because their temperaments are totally different not everything is perfect. Delilah is very shy and happy to stay at home with her dogs while Jason wants to enjoy every aspect of his new life in New York and wants to spend every night out meeting new people.
Jason expects Delilah to be more outgoing but doesn't realize that he is hurting her more than helping to overcome her insecurities.
After a disastrous evening spent at one of Jason's colleagues home they both decide to end their intimate relationship. They still have contact because of Stanley and after Delilah helps Jason out in two critical situations he realizes why he fell in love with the shy Delilah and that they are perfect for each other if they accept the other just like she/he is.
Delilah and Jason are really sweet together and I especially love her. She is one of my favourite heroines.
Besides Delilah, Jason and Stanley you also meet some crazy parents, an annoying but also very charming twin-brother (his book "Power Play" is out in October 08) and some of the "old" Blades and each of them makes this book what it is: perfect.
So please run to your next bookstore/go online and buy/order yourself a copy and read on!
Enjoy.

Customer Rating: Summary: Adorable romantic love story! Comment: I just adored this little book. It was sooo cute and sweet. This was my first Deirdre book and I was pleasantly surprised, and glad I went all out and bought it.
Maybe I like this book soo much because I myself happened to think I may suffer a bit from social anxiety, sooo, when Delilah was describing how she felt anxious around strangers or big crowds I sympathized with her. I did think that her hunky bf judged her too hard, and overreacted when she went haywire about the dog being tied in the basement. Having a dog in a basement tied up with no water and with poop everywhere is horrible, so she was in her right to act indignant. Highly recommended!
