Summary: 80's animation + X-Men + Pryde of the X-Men = X-Cellent!
Comment: "X-Men, X-Men, X-Men
Today is the day
X-Men, X-Men, X-Men
They're on their way!
Magneto's hordes are on their way,
Out to pillage and plunder,
Whenever things go wrong,
Our heroes come in like thunder!
X-Men, X-Men, X-Men
Saving the day
X-Men, X-Men, X-Men
Coming your way!" - Theme song of Pryde of the X-Men

On with the review:
I used to watch this when I was younger - last time before now I saw it was probably '96, because I LOVED X-Men all of the time. Now with my request granted by my parents to purchase the VHS for Christmas, I didn't watch it for a while til' today with my mother - She liked it as much as I did from my childhood and my opinion hasn't changed.

Animation: Excellent for a cartoon made by the same people who did G.I. Joe, 80's Spider-Man and Transformers
Music and Voice-acting: Opening theme's catchy but the lyrics (shown above) need work for memorization and my mother admits the acting is good so I agree... but what makes it so campy is: Why does Wolverine sound Australian? Another great thing about the voice-acting is narration by Stan Lee of Marvel Comics, Stan the Man speaking to All True Believers!
Plot: Chronicles Kitty Pryde's time when she joined the X-Men, Magneto has broken free of a military convoy and has taken the Cerbero Power Circuit to use the Scorpio comet to destroy the Earth and the X-Men must stop him before it's too late
Best of all: Features a voice-acting promotion commercial with Spider-Man and the show inspired Konami to create the all-famous X-Men the Arcade game (In which one of the cabinets is for 6 players, whoa!)

So therefore, if you're X-Men fan grab a cassette of this and if you like 80's cartoons, enjoy

Summary: Very Cool
Comment: I loved the cartoon. Toad was a ugly looking circus freak and dumb. The danger room or the training facility was quite entertaining. The asteroid "m" fight was great as each X-Men except Xaiver and Storm mad progress to destroy Magneto's diabolical plot. It was there when I became obsessd with the X-Men franchise.

Summary: Base your decision on this one fact:
Comment: This movie is a one-shot tie-in to the old-school side-scrolling X-Men arcade beat-'em-up. It is only loosely tied to the comics, it's not meant to literally match any particular series or incarnation of the team.

[This explains all the discrepancies that other reviewers are complaining about.]

The arcade game was my all-time favorite (especially the 6-player extra-large cabinet) and I love this movie just as much. Both have a cheesy 80's polish that make them irresistable.

Summary: Not as good as the hype
Comment: This is really, really bad from a number of different points. One, it tries to fit about 80 issues of comics into one 30 minute episode. Two, the voice acting and placement is really bad. Logan is Australian instead of Canadian and it's painful, and the Professor sounds like Burt Reynolds. Three, the story not only is rushed, but not accurate for the comic and not really good anyways.

Some neat things about it though are the "Japanese-style" animation. They have shown clips of this episode at the end of the 90's series and I've been asked about it many times. The use of characters is pretty good aside from Dazzler who was never really committed to the team for long and Jean Grey is missing from what should be a Hellfire Club/Dark Phoenix story since it's Kitty's introduction to the group. The Brotherhood is kind of glazed over but Magneto and Juggernaut are extremely prominent although Magneto is just a psychopath in this episode, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. And to the other reviewers of this episode, yes Juggernaut has been a member of the Brotherhood before and yes he is technically a mutant, his latent mutant powers were awaken by the crystal that "gives him power" and his power would not be as significant had he not had the X-factor gene suppressed within him. YAY FOR GEEKAGE!!!

Don't waste your money on this episode, I'm sure you can track it down somewhere for free if you need a laugh. Many of the full sets of the 90's series (which overall is friggin' amazing) have this epidode on it too.

Summary: Pryde of the X-MEN
Comment: I ordered the Pryde of the X-MEN it is so cool.It is better than X-MEN Evolution. To bad they did not make a series of theis. It is alot like the X-MEN comics in a way. But it does also differ,1. White Queen is part of the Brother Hood, I mean if she's not part of the Hellfire Club what's the point of her code name.2.Dazzler did not join the X-MEN before Kittie Pryde alias Sprite.3.Wolverine is not from Australia.4. Juggernaut was not part of the Brother Hood, he's not even a mutant.I do think the cast was great. Like I said this was a great episode.

Editorial Reviews:

Meet the fabulous X-Men: Cyclops, who shoots concentrated beams of energy... Colossus, impervious to harm... the Dazzler, transforming the sun into powerful bolts of light... Nightcrawler, with unique powers of teleportation... Wolverine, whose razor-like claws can slice through any substance known to man... Storm, who can control weather itself... and their leader, Professor X, who has the ability to see into people's minds. All these mutant powers! Will they be enough to crush the tremendous villainy of the evil Magneto and his henchman... the Blob, Pyro, and the Juggernaut??
