Summary: Fantastica!!!
Comment: I own this video since it was first released in 1993, and after Callas, Malfitano's performance is the one who impressed me the most. I also have the Kavaibanska version, and she plays a so sweet Tosca, beautiful but weak. Malfitano is at her best in this role, fierce and strong and yet a victim of her jealousy.
Domingo is good but not at his best. Orchestra is wonderful, scenario is just perfect, no one can surpass this setting, the afternoon colors, Rome at dawn. Wonderful!
I also must make a complaint : WHY THIS VIDEO HASN't BEEN RELEASED IN DVD FORMAT YET?

Summary: A Tosca for all times..
Comment: Domingo in his prime. Malfitano as Tosca brings the depth of her character to life as I have never seen on the stage of the Met (Alas I never saw Callas) This is a must have for Tosca fans.
My only complaint? WHY is it not available on DVD.

Summary: Amazing!
Comment: Please, everyone, see this movie! Is wonderful! Catherine Malfitano shines as Tosca, giving the charactar all of the dramatic dephth that is required. PLacido Domingo is the ideal Mario (duh!). Ruggero Raminondi is a very evil Scarpia, and you won't forget him. Filming on the actyal location added exrta dephth to the opera. Two thumbs up!
