Summary: Formula
Comment: Lots of special effects don't save this movie that follows a predictable story line that ends up being another edition of an old formula movie. It was exciting at times, but overall dull and boring. :-)

Summary: Max Payne For Marvel Comics!!!
Comment: I like this movie because it reminds me a lot of one of my favorite games; Max Payne. Frank Castle is on his last mission, and kills the son of Howard Saint. Howard's wife tells him to kill Frank's family. I love the plot about Frank Castle punishing those who killed his family. It sucked that everyone in Frank's family died. EVERYONE! I love that skull shirt! Frank eventually becomes friends with Dave, Bumpo and Joan and moves in with them. While he's there, he plans his punishment against Howard Saint. There are a lot of awesome action sequences! If you love action, Max Payne, and Marvel comic movies, you'll love THE PUNISHER!!!

Summary: Punisher Blu-Ray Review
Comment: Okay this was a good movie, not mind blowing, but definitely gritty. In my book, this deserved a sequel and not the train wreck that is "War Zone".

This release falls short.
LionsGate should have polished the film for the HD release. I imagine they ported the exact DVD release. There are no trailers or extras, just a "Blu-Ray Experice" trailer... probably the best looking part of this release.
Throughout the film I see grain, it seems grains are absent in the scenes with ample lighting, which is bad because it's a dark film.

I recommend holding out for an ultimate edition (please LionsGate!). But for $12 bucks it's good if you haven't seen it.
This is NOT for collector's!!

Summary: Excellent!!!!!!!
Comment: Well, I am totally biased here on this movie. It was filmed in my hometown of Tampa. I still think it's an excellent movie though. Besides "The Dark Knight", this is my favorite comic book movie so far. I like the darkside of it.

Summary: Castle for the timid
Comment: this movie was a big disappointment for me. it didn't have the extremes that i'm used to with the punisher. i actually prefer the punisher film starring Lundgren over this one because it had more action, but i wouldn't recommend it as a great film either. i like how the punisher's origin was done in the film starring Lundgren with flashbacks to show how he's tormented and how it drives him. the Lundgren version also has a comic book/campy feel to it that makes it more entertaining and enjoyable.

luckily there's another punisher film coming out that looks like it'll be extremely violent and over the top.

Editorial Reviews:

The impressively muscular chest of Tom Jane is the focal point of The Punisher, a movie based on a Marvel Comics superhero. Frank Castle (Jane, Deep Blue Sea) retires from the FBI, which means--as any moviegoer expects--that his family is toast. Howard Saint (John Travolta, Face/Off), a shady Florida businessman whose son was killed in Castle's last mission, orders a hit not only on Castle's wife and child, but also on his parents and a whole bunch of aunts, uncles, cousins, and so forth. The killers shoot Castle himself in the chest, but he inexplicably survives and--as any moviegoer expects--sets out to even the score. Implausibly, given his sometimes curious and roundabout methods, he succeeds. Also featuring Will Patton (Armageddon) as an oily thug, Laura Harring (Mulholland Drive) as Saint's fleshpot wife, and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (X-Men) as a waitress with bad taste in men. --Bret Fetzer
