Customer Rating: Summary: The Batman: Season Two > The Batman: Season One Comment: Don't get me wrong. I'm one of the few that loved season one, but this season is better. There are so many classic episodes in just one season, and many turning points in batman's career. We are also lucky to get to see Commissioner Gordon in this season. I was also impressed with how every episode is its own. Last season, some of the episodes got redundant, but in this one that is not a problem.
As I did in the First Season Review, these are my top five episodes of this season.
1. Riddled (What a Riddler episode should be like)
2. JTV (Joker at his Best)
3. Ragdolls to Riches (Ragdoll is just great)
4. Fire and Ice (Great "disaster" episode)
5. The Laughing Bat (Another Joker great)
Before I go and make this sound like the best thing to ever happen to batman, I would also like to state some of the flaws. I believe that The Joker and Penguin are a little over used. While I do love this Joker, he seems to show up maybe just a little more than he should. I never really cared much for Penguin, and he is in here just as much as the joker. I was also a little let down with the way Killer Croc was done, I thought they could have been a little more creative. Even though I still don't like Mr. Freeze, I do like Firefly and their episode was very good.
Again, this season is an improvement over season one, but don't let that turn you away from season one, because it is also done very well. I recommend both seasons.
Customer Rating: Summary: On to season two Comment: After watching seasons five, four, and three in that order, a pattern that started out by coincidence and continued on by design, it was time for season two. The first obvious observation is that there is no Batgirl or Robin, with the two forthcoming sidekicks supplanted by one Detective Ellen Yin. The other primary observation is that this season occurs earlier on in Batman's career, when he is still considered somewhat of a vigilante outsider more wanted by the law than trusted or embraced by them, except of course for the aforementioned Ms. Yin. The episodes start out on a more welcomed serious note, but a few still perplexingly and regrettably degenerate into that exasperating silly mentality that the creators apparently thought was an essential ingredient for its' appeal, but instead just unfortunately became its' main albatross throughout its' entire run. Frivolity is one thing, inanity is another. Indeed this was aimed at a younger audience, but it didn't need to be dumbed down because of this. Children are more intelligent than given credit for. As with all the volumes, there are strong and weak episodes, with the new Marilyn Mansonesque Riddler shining in one of the former, and the redundant and gratuitous overuse of the Joker, and especially the painfully annoying Penguin, comprising many of the latter ones. The animation continues to excel, with the fight scene between Bats and Killer Croc being a great example of its' eye opening brilliance. You can practically feel the punches as they land. The BatJoker episode contained elements that illustrate and exemplify both the strengths and weaknesses of this cartoon as a whole. Some parts are annoyingly and childishly silly, while others are wickedly funny and sublimely inspired. Talk about encompassing the total spectrum. The impressiveness of certain aspects of this cartoon makes one ponder at times about how close this version of Batman came to being something truly special.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Batman- The Complete Second Season....... Comment: Season Two of The Batman pitted Batman against the likes of: The Riddler, Ragdoll, Hugo Strange, Killer Croc, Spellbinder, Solomon Grundy among other notorious villans. During which, Commissioner Gordon comes into the show's setting, with the departure of Ellen Yin(whom you all should know as Ethan Bennett's partner on the force). The Batsignal is introduced, as well, which is especially cool since it is a part of the Batman mythos. The show is starting to pick up a little more steam as far as episodes are concerned and more villans are introduced. I must say, I really like the show alot. I plan on continuing getting every season that I can. Look back here at Amazon for more reviews from me.....Same Bat-time, Same Bat-channel.... ;)
Customer Rating: Summary: The Batman-Second Season Comment: Great product for little guys. Violence is minimal and not graphic. Stories are creative and the artwork is great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Much better than expected Comment: I bought this for my son for Christmas. I wasn't really expecting much but we really enjoyed this new incarnation of "The Batman".
